NEW ‘ACROSS THE UNIVERSE’ DEMO

The Jim Sturgess Official Myspace page has just uploaded another Across the Universe session demo, this one featuring Jim Sturgess singing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.  The song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney for the Beatles’ 1967 Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album, was originally covered by Bono and featured in the film’s psychedelic end credits.

NEW MUSIC ON JIM STURGESS MYSPACE

The Official Jim Sturgess Myspace page has just published a new song written and performed by Jim Sturgess called, Find the Chief.  This new tune was recorded by one of Jim’s former bands, Saint Faith, however the page also includes music from another former band, Dilated Spies, as well as two previously unheard Across the Universe demo recordings.

TWO ‘ACROSS THE UNIVERSE’ TRACKS RELEASED

After reaching 2,000 followers on Twitter @mrjimsturgess has released two previously unheard Across the Universe tracks on the Official Jim Sturgess Myspace page.  Track One is Eleanor Rigby, written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon and released on the 1966 Revolver album.  Track Two is I Am the Walrus, written by Lennon for the 1967 Magical Mystery Tour album.  This song was Jim’s self professed favorite from the film and ultimately was performed by Bono in the role of Dr. Robert.

NEW POETRY & LYRICS / DISCOGRAPHY PAGES

JSOnline is pleased to announce the launch of two new pages in the About Jim section of our website which highlight Poetry and Lyrics from original music published on the official Jim Sturgess MySpace account and the poetry tweeted by @mrjimsturgess.  The lyrics include song titles from Dilated Spies (Blind Together, Inside Empty Out, Lunatic Eyes) and Saint Faith (Jury Eleven, War Lords).

In addition we have added a movie soundtrack Discography page which lists the music performed by Jim in Across the Universe, Crossing Over, and Heartless, along with the complete lyrics to two tracks, Heartless and The Other Me.  These two songs were written by director Philip Ridley specifically for Jim’s character, Jamie Morgan.

We invite you to explore the rich content available in these new pages and we hope you enjoy listening to Jim’s music, as well as reading his beautifully written lyrics.  Special thanks to forum member, Chrissie, for her assistance with lyrics for several of the songs.

JSOnline has been closely following the updates to the official Jim Sturgess MySpace, where two tunes were recently added to the site:

  • Blind Together (Dilated Spies demo) by Jim Sturgess
  • Full on (Saint Faith live at the Spitz) by Jim Sturgess

The Official Jim Sturgess Myspace features several tracks which are credited to bands Jim has played with in the past.  The JSOnline crew were curious about the history behind these bands, and after doing some research, have  been able to verify the following information:

Saint Faith was a band Jim was in with a group of friends in London.  It was a 7-piece band that split up before Jim and another musician went on to create Dilated Spies… all these pieces of music are demos recorded by the bands and the Dilated Spies recordings were done in Jim’s flat in London.

As for the Ludlow Quartet, they were a quartet that were working in the same studio where Jim was recording tracks for Across the Universe in New York.  Jim had been talking to them around the studio area, and then asked if they’d put something down on a piano idea he was messing around with. Apparently the track was recorded live during his lunch break!

We are pleased and excited to share the Official Jim Sturgess MySpace page featuring music written and performed by Jim Sturgess.  Currently a total of six songs are featured, with several credited to either Dilated Spies or Saint Faith, two bands we believe Jim has played with in the past.  Also on the site is Make Your Mind Up, a song written and performed by Jim Sturgess for the film Crossing Over.

In addition to music, the site includes Jim Sturgess related videos, magazine scans, and movie posters.  We hope you enjoy this great find and we’re looking forward to more music in the future!!!  You can view Jim’s MySpace page here.
