‘THE WAY BACK’ IMAGES & TELLURIDE PROGRAM

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

We are finding multiple sources for production stills and behind-the-scenes images from Peter Weir’s The Way Back.  Below is a thumbnail collage of the images we’ve located so far, however you can view larger sizes of the images (with news agency watermarks) in our forum here.

Additionally, the 37th Annual Telluride Program Guide is now available online hereThe Way Back will be premiering at the festival tonight, Sept 3 at 9:30pm, and  showing again on Sept 4 at 2:45 pm and Sept 5 at 8:30pm (all times MST).   The copy in the program guide reads:

Adapted from Slavomir Rawicz’s novel, the story follows six prisoners who undertake the suicidal, desperate project of escape, including an arduous treck through the mountains and deserts of Mongolia and the Himalayas.  Ed Harris plays a misanthropic American expat, Colin Farrell a wily Russian thug, and Saoirse Ronan a mysterious girl encountered on the journey.  The revelation, however, is young British actor Jim Sturgess as Janusz, an idealistic Pole and unexpected leader.

‘ONE DAY’ FILMING IN PARIS CONTINUES

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

We have more on-set images from the filming of Lone Sherfig’s One Day starring Jim Sturgess as Dexter Mayhew and Anne Hathaway as Emma Morley.  The images feature a new short-haired Emma, although it’s been confirmed the actress is wearing a wig, along with a gray-haired and slightly more wrinkled Dexter, as the two characters change and age over the course of twenty years within the context of the film.  (Click on images to enlarge.)

We’ve added even more new images to our collection of behind-the-scenes pictures of Jim and Anne filming One Day.  We hope you enjoy this preview of a tender moment between Dexter and Emma in Paris:

You can view all the new behind-the-scenes images here.

Lainey Gossip has been following the progress of the filming closely and is a huge fan of the novel, as well as Jim Sturgess.  Below are a few excerpts from her column:

Have you read One Day yet?  Please do soon.  Because I always forget to alert for spoilers and it’s so hard especially when set shots are being released and besides, what’s the delay anyway? It’s one of the best books of the summer (my review is here), if not the best book of the summer and it will break your heart and make you happy, so why are you putting it off?  One Day is a story for which you’ll have so much affection and tenderness for a long, long time. If you know about Emma and Dexter, you’ve no doubt this is true.

And here they are, the film versions in Paris today, shooting that scene when she meets him at the station and, well, it all happens after and it really is as it’s written, at least to me anyway, the way he’s touching her hair, and loving it short (a wig by the way, and another good one), and older, damaged, weary, but ready.   Finally ready.  Sob!

(She continues…) Dex, as you can see, is most definitely Jim Sturgess, right down to the way his head is titled to the side as he’s walking towards her and her adorable sign.  It’s awful and wonderful at the same time isn’t it?  The way a book stays with you and comes back in aches in your stomach.

Dear Lainey, we couldn’t agree with you more!!!

‘LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS’ PREVIEW & NEW U.K. POSTER

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

On Tuesday, Director Zack Snyder treated selected guests to a 15-minute preview screening of Legend of the Guardians footage at Warner Brothers studios.  The film, slated to be released in the USA on September 24 and in the UK on October 22, stars the voice of Jim Sturgess as the main character, a young barn owl named Soren.  Among those attending the screening was Gary Phillips from HEYUGUYS!, a British film website, and below is a brief excerpt of his impressions of the film:

Each scene showcased some excellent 3D which was as good as any I’ve seen; it never felt that it was there for the sake of using 3D, nor did it look out of place.  What really surprised me was just how good the animation is, it’s some of the best I’ve ever seen. The birds themselves looked flawless, the design stunning with detailed feathers and other features which really stood out.  The thoughts which troubled me from the trailers were forgotten instantly as I grew to like the characters, helped by some excellent vocal casting and I warmed more and more to the idea of a more realistic looking animated character that Legend of the Guardians is offering, as opposed to your regular toy range friendly creations which litter most animated movies.  It really works well.

Overall the story looks very interesting combining a wonderfully mythological tale with characters that seem interesting with a wide range of comical, wise and evil roles in place to offer something for all.  It is visually incredible and the action scenes were exciting, scary, well choreographed, delicious to watch and contained your regular Snyder slow motion moments.  It left me desperate to see more.

You can read the full article about the screening here.  Today, HeyUGuys! has published a newly released UK version of the Legend of the Guardians movie poster.  This stunning image features Soren in flight, along with other characters from the animated feature.

BLAG: So what’s the standout memory from all your films? Is there anything that you’ve taken from a film, whether it’s something that someone said to you, or something that you really carry with you?

JS: “I think working with Ed [Harris] was really amazing. He was one of the actors that I’d really seen and watched who’s so approachable. We became such good friends and he was probably the only actor who’s ever helped me really. It doesn’t happen often, because with a lot of actors you do your own thing and you have your own way of working it out unless you ask personally for advice, but Ed was just so commanding in a really respectable way on the set and I’ve never seen that happen before.  It was just amazing to be around.  He’s so into it to the point… you know there’s a term that gets thrown around which is ‘method acting’ and I never quite know what that is, or I don’t think many people do – everyone has a method of some description and tries to get involved in the lives that these characters portray and put out there.  Ed really goes there and it’s really exciting to watch and be around.”

‘LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS’ CHARACTER POSTERS

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Shockya.com website, via IMP Awards, has just published new character-based movie posters for Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole animated feature due in theaters September 24th.  Here’s a brief excerpt from the website:

Considering the trailer boasts some fantastic animation, it’s no surprise that the character posters for Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole are mesmerizing.  Based on Kathryn Lasky’s books, the film tells the story of a young owl named Soren who gets into trouble when a scuffle with his brother causes both to fall from their treetop and into the clutches of the evil Pure Ones. After managing to escape, Soren and a few new friends must find the legendary Guardians of Ga’Hoole in order to save the owl kingdoms from the Pure Ones. Of course one of these posters belongs to our hero, Soren, who’s voiced by Jim Sturgess.

Other characters include Ryan Kwanten (Kludd), Emilie de Ravin (Eglantine), David Wenham (Digger), Jay Laga’aia (Twilight), and many more.  In total there are eight different new character posters and you can view all of them in our gallery here.
