We are pleased to announce that Philip Ridley’s Heartless starring Jim Sturgess has been awarded the Vision Award for Best Independent Feature Film at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, which took place August 13-20, 2010. The Vision Awards are given out by the Festival in recognition of outstanding independent genre feature filmmaking.

The Heartless Facebook page has begun an “unofficial” T-shirt contest, encouraging fans to submit their entries to the site. Liz, JSOnline Co-webmistress and graphic designer extraordinaire, has submitted several designs (see below) and uploaded them to our FanArt Gallery here.
In addition, just announced by Heartless producer, Richard Raymond, on his Twitter account @dickieray:

Philip Ridley’s Heartless, starring Jim Sturgess, will have it’s North American premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal two weeks from today on July 14. Festival tickets go on sale this Tuesday, July 6, at 1:00 pm. Below is a brief excerpt from the festival website describing the film:
Part of Ridley’s genius is his uncanny ability to make powerful, introspective films that thrill and entertain audiences in spite of their wounded severity, and HEARTLESS is no exception. A film this heavy shouldn’t be this fun, yet here it is. Sturgess carries the film flawlessly, evoking a tender vulnerability layered atop bedrock of fear and anger, the stark embodiment of a broken ego drifting through hurt.

Thanks to our forum member Izzy, we have now learned that Philip Ridley’s Heartless will make its North American premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal on July 14, 2010 and now has a distribution deal lined up in Canada with VVS. However, no release date has yet been announced. Heartless premiered in the UK on May 21, 2010 and stars Jim Sturgess.

The lyrics include song titles from Dilated Spies (Blind Together, Inside Empty Out, Lunatic Eyes) and Saint Faith (Jury Eleven, War Lords).
In addition we have added a movie soundtrack Discography page which lists the music performed by Jim in Across the Universe, Crossing Over, and Heartless, along with the complete lyrics to two tracks, Heartless and The Other Me. These two songs were written by director Philip Ridley specifically for Jim’s character, Jamie Morgan.
